Croatia is enjoying rising popularity among British travelers, partly as a result of the access available from a number of UK airports, an expert has claimed.
Flights to Croatia are currently available from Gatwick Airport, Birmingham Airport, Bristol Airport and others, with carriers including British Airways and Croatia Airlines.
According to a spokesman for the Croatian National Tourist Office, the exposure that the country has enjoyed in the press has also contributed to its boom in popularity.
These factors led to 275,000 British holidaymakers traveling to Croatia in 2007 and 150 tour operators currently being able to offer services to the country.
Commenting on the various regions of the country, the tourist office spokesman said: "It is very popular all over, up north from Rijeka, down south to Dubrovnik. We've got over 1,000 islands; the very popular ones are Korcula, Krk, Cres [and] Losinj."
He added: "Our coastline is very dense with over 1,000 islands. Of those 65 are populated and connected very well with the mainland."
While there are reportedly a range of holiday options available in Croatia, one of the most popular is the sailing trip.
