Best Shot | Pula, Istria, Croatia
Eric Alliger of Westbury and his wife, Deborah, traveled to Venice and the Dalmatian coast in June. "This," he writes, "is a shot of a Roman amphitheater in Pula, a town in Istria that is a triangular peninsula constituting the westernmost part of Croatia on the Adriatic. The amphitheater is one of the six largest existing today and in its time could hold 23,000 spectators. Today it holds 5,000 and is a venue for concerts and an annual film festival."
